There are many contemporary artists creating landscape paintings. However, the art synthesis process I am recreating using gravity as energy is unique. The process is based on a metaphysical connection to the subject matter, nature. It is a personal spiritual state of being that connects and manipulates air, water, and gravity to the paint on the canvas. The process requires me to create pigments that represent nature, specifically from the soil of the earth, and mix them with water and allow gravity to flow naturally in composing each landscape painting. In my work, I pull from sacred doctrines of Christianity to visualize God’s gift of nature and the role of a keeper of the promise to protect the environment that relates to the “Garden of Eden.” The thesis artwork is a conscious reflection of a philosophical duality. I see the world from both a spiritual and scientific perspective. However, the metaphysical manifestation of artistic expression is more spiritual than scientific.
I am more comfortable painting on an unstretched canvas. In this process, first, I lay out a white primed canvas on a flat surface. Next, I select acrylic or oil paint to use on the canvas to create my artwork. This medium allowed me to correct any mistakes quickly. In creating my work, I have explored all the advantages of acrylic and oil medium nature. I am doing imaginary landscapes from the heart. They are not actual landscapes depicted from life observance.
The landscape's colors change over time, seasons, and weather conditions. I have been capturing the fall season in my landscape. I followed the western method, started from a distance, and worked to close up. Then, thinly dilute the sky colors, mix them with water, and spill the paint on the canvas. I am using an air compressor as an instrument to move the paint on the canvas with it.
The horizon is an imaginary horizontal line, and the imaginary vertical line is a meridian. The two lines' intersection point is called the principal vanishing point. I drip a blue color right where the principal vanishing point is. Then, I lift the canvas to one side late, the paint dribbling on the canvas to create lines by the gravity energy.
